Tips for Making Great Use of Office 2013

If you have Office Home Student2013, then you have the capacity to create really wonderful documents for school use – or even for business use. The best way, however to start using this new MS suite is to know little tips and tricks to improve your way of working.

What are some of the most useful tips for Office Student 2013?

First, you can streamline it by removing the start screen. This might be useful to some people but later on, you may not necessarily be needing this feature. All you have to do is go to File, then Options and on the General category tab – uncheck the “Show the start screen” option. This is located on the start-up options of the tab.

Second, you can edit your PDF files in Word 2013. Office has allowed you to save PDF files in previous versions. Unless you open it in Acrobat or a similar app, PDF’s are usually read-only. Office Word 2013, however allows you to edit the documents this time around. Some formatting needs to be adjusted after you work on it, otherwise, you can edit and create one of the best document formats to date.

Third, Word allows you to translate documents into other languages. It is practically a built-in Office 2013 feature. Of course, the results are not perfect just like any translator – but it is a good starter for creating a polyglot document. Of course, you need to have it proof-read by a native speaker and edit it yourself if you are fluent in the foreign language in question. But you can also use it sparingly, such as phrases in French or in Spanish for instance.

You can integrate Word 2013 with other apps by installing third party applications within Word itself. Go to the Insert tab and you will see “Apps for Office” – go to the dropdown list and click “See all”. This is where you will be able to go to the Office store and download some apps. These include dictionaries among others – but if you do, whatever you need will become available with Word.

Finally, save directly to PC instead of OneDrive – if this is the default option. To customize the settings, go to File and then Options. Select Save and choose “Save to computer by default.” Now all of your files will be saved to your PC instead of the cloud.

Go ahead and order Office Home Student 2013 today if you feel it will improve your productivity and efficiency.
