Office 2013 Best Features

Microsoft Office Student Edition 2013 or the 2013 suite in general has had the option of being available as a stand-alone PC desktop software or you could choose to get it on Office 365.  Suffice it to say, there have been many advances in the Office suite that were not in its predecessors. Is it really worth getting? The newest upgrades in Office 2013 make it so.

So what are the best features of Microsoft 2013?

First, is a better UI! The modern interface also called the Metro is something that will so often see incorporated in Windows 8. This is in keeping with the new look that Microsoft is going for. There are no more colorful shades that denoted the previous interface – and instead Office 2013 is given a minimalist, and flat look. This mirrors the tiles on Windows 8 as well. The concept here is that the minimalist interface allows you to focus on your work better and not be distracted by the different objects on your screen.  Whether the Metro interface will fulfill its purpose or not, the new look is certainly a welcome change from previous versions.

The second feature are the Start Screens. These are color coded. Word is blue, Excel is green, orange is PowerPoint and so on. Just like the other apps, the one used for Word shows a list of certain recent documents. By default, you can create a blank document, but Office Student 2013 allows you to select from different templates including the option to search the Web. You can click on Open Other Documents if you need to search for a document on OneDrive. The new interface is truly a plus and will help you navigate the software in a very smooth fashion.

Third is OneDrive. Office 2013 has greatly integrated with the art of cloud computing. OneDrive and SharePoint are what it interfaces with. This is great if you prefer to save your work on a Web. If you are a student who needs to access your projects from anywhere or a business person who needs her docs at a moment’s notice, the OneDrive will prove very useful. Just click on your account details when you are at the cloud sharing site so that you can manage these details. If you save a document to OneDrive, you can save it on your PC as well.

Go ahead and try using Microsoft Office Student Edition 2013 if you feel it will improve your productivity and your ability to excel in all of your projects.
